I come from a very small town in Northern India (Mathura: population a little more than 10 million :) ). But I never got to stay there, my father was in Indian Air Force, so we kept on moving from one station to another, and hence I got the opportunity to live in almost every part of India (including the islands of Andaman and Nicobar in the Indian Ocean), except for Kashmir.
When I was 14 my father was posted to Botswana (Southern Africa) for 3 years to teach the Air Force Personnel how to fly helicopters. That was an incredible time in my life, you might get to read something about it thru my earlier posts.
When we returned back to India I did my bachelors and masters in computer science and got a job in a chip-design company in India. I worked there for 2 years, before leaving India and my parents for greener pastures out here in the US. I was in Virginia for about a year, in Austin, TX for about a year, and now am in Houston for the last 4 months. Meanwhile, I also spent around 9 months back in India when I got laid off last year due to the economic recession here in US.
My wife comes from another small town in North-Western India - Jodhpur - from the land of the desert. Her father was also in Indian Air Force till few years back. She has also moved around from one place to another all her life. She did her bachelors in science, and then her masters and Ph.D. in Tourism Management from India. And she has been a full-time homemaker after she has married me. We have a lovely daughter named Kriti who is just 4.5 months old.
Well, that's if from my end, for now!
Love is blind, but marriage is a real eye opener.
I am from Turin, Italy. I don't think that you can know my city. Many of the Europeans here do though, because it is kinda known in Europe; not so in America. Anyway, here my city is famous for cars. We have the official Fiat establishment here. I wasn't born in Turin, but in a small country nearby.
Now I live here, and attend university. Last year I enrolled at telecommunications engineering, but I soon realized that I wasn't fit for it. 40 hours per week.. nah too much for me. I want to do some more things in my life than studying. That's why I switched majors (even if I also had some problem because of an accident. That was what convinced me the most), and this next academic year I'm enrolling at foreign languages. That is cool, guys. I already know English quite well (I hope you won't object to this, Hawkeye), I'm already studying a little German (and I know that I can count on the many Germans on this forum), and my third language will be Spanish.
Well, what else... yeah, I have a boyfriend (Neil aka Hawkeye) who participates to this forum as well as me, and I love him very much. As much as he loves me I hope :P Lol Well, if you are so curious, and want to know how much he loves me, I guess you should ask him, and he will surely give you a more precise reply :)

No, South Carolina, USA actually. If they sold pressurized suits and computers, that's where I'd be though. What can I say? I am a dreamer.
I think I closely resemble my avatar too, except I wear light glasses too (and I rarely look so serious :-))

Mare Tranquillitates (right written?), moon.
No, serious: Nendeln, community of Eschen, principality of Liechtenstein, small country between cow-Switzerland and Haider-Austria. Europe and so on.
Not well-known country in America, I am afraid ;-)

I am from Puerto Rico, the most beautiful place there is.:) I live in Ohio, U.S, the most boring state there is. This place needs everything, it is sooooo unbelievably boring, there is nothing to do and it's mostly for old people. I would like to be back in Puerto Rico with my own people again. I can't stand being away from my island, I know that someday i will be back there and happy again.

Dear Orchid, I'm the one to blame! And please believe me it was an accident! I wanted to reply to Null's message, got distracted for a second and just hit the wrong button when I looked at the screen again! Of course I didn't want to hurt your national pride and I do apologize if I did. I did it not on purpose, neither the green rating nor hurting your feelings. Sorry!

Sorry for the confusion, people! The phrase about Liechtenstein being a part of Switzerland is an anti-joke I like to tease Orchid with. I just love it when she acts upset. :-) Anyways, it probably got mistaken here. I will refrain from posting such insider stuff in the future. Just don't take it too serious, okay?
Again, sorry! Ofcourse the Principality of Liechtenstein is a full country of its own.

Innsbruck, Haider-Austria as Orchid said (I never did an never will vote for him or his party) but at the moment I study in Vienna.
Liechtenstein, small country between cow-Switzerland and Haider-Austria.
I'd rather say Blocher Switzerland...

Why did you edit your post so drastically, Frank?
After one night of sleep the anger was not so big anymore?
Pity! I actually like to know what made you so angry in the first place to write the original post!

Well, null, to reply to your question I'd need to know if that quote comes from a particular author. In fact, Latin authors often used word with particular meaning. That is because Latin during its evolution was influenced. For example, the language spoken by the vulgus was quite different from the one spoken by orators and cultured people.
Anyway, translated literally, that sentence doesn't make much sense...
Stat rosa pristina nomine, nomina nuda tenemus...
"The ancient rose is (lives) in the name. We hold mere (pure) names" I would need to know more about that sentence to make a more accurate translation. That is a very simple sentence since there aren't present any particular grammar constructs, but still I'd like to know what I am supposed to read through those words. Besides those dots in the end of the sentence let me guess it's not over... Maybe knowing also the other part of the sentence I could get a better translation ;)
I don't know if Mr. Crash wrote that sentence to quote some important Latin author. I don't remember I've ever translated such a sentence anyway, but I haven't studied all the things every Latin authors wrote throughout their life. I hope that he will give us some explanations or at least some hints to better translate it. :)

Andromacha and I will make a great trivial persuit team
Yeah, we are definitely a good team!(and not only for trivia pursuit) I can handle Italian, English and German literature, philosophy and all that stuff, and Hawkeye can handle the sciences. 2 different knowledges for a galactic couple, huh? Oh yeah, we are sooo cool :)
So this is the very first compliment my boyfriend pays me ;) I'm kidding, I'm kidding. The truth is that the number of the compliments he has paid me is highly above 10000. Since I'm not a science woman I don't know what comes after 10000, and so I stopped counting. :D
