Abusive e-mail!

Re: Abusive e-mail!

Someone did this with my address too. There's nothing you can do save dropping this address and telling your loved ones.

See it as a chance - when I shut down this ages old e-mail address the amount of spam I got went down by 99%.

Re: Abusive e-mail!

Can't you get hold of one such email, and trace back the IP address from which it originated and then inform the ISP that person is using about his fraud. I am sure there must be something that can be done to stop this guy.

You would spent days trying to figure out which ISP he was using. If you make it until here, try to make this ISP give you the personal address of one of their customers. And what are you going to do then? Take a plane, beat him up? Most likely the ass will be sitting in a country like South East Asudahibi and used a throwaway AOL trial account.

It's so not possible to hold a person for their online deeds responsible if they are living outside your country.

Re: Abusive e-mail!

yeah, Jaz is right. and thats that damned point:

you just cannot get those assholes busted - so if they insert your e-mail adress instead their own, YOU get the trash of mail systems informing you that this and that account doesnt exist or that spamming is not allowed, although you did IRl NOT send ANY of these mails!

raaaaah! .. and worst is: if you aint got a good spam filter thats starting in the mail server, and not just some filters in your mail client, you're the loser at any time!

Bounce the e-mail back to yourself, follow the headers to the source and forward the offending/forged document to the abuse department of the actual senders ISP.

I don't know why I didn't recommend this to you originally. There is a FREE internet service that's only purpose is to stop or at least slow the internet disease better know as "spam". It's quick (takes about 20 seconds), easy to use and very effective.

Originally you received the added gratification from your good deed in the form of an e-mail from the offenders ISP stating that the "bad guy" had his/her account terminated. In an effort to further protect our anonymity they no longer forward our e-mail address along with their form letter explaining the offence to the ISP in question.

Rest assured it does work. I used to keep those termination response e-mails in a folder just as a gunfighter of old would etch another "notch" on his pistol grip, a reminder of another confirmed kill. Ah the good old days!

Re: Abusive e-mail!

Doesn't Spamcop charge by the kilobyte? As far as I remember this was one of the reasons why I never switched to them. But they're good, no question.

PS. You can make clickable links. Check out this.

Re: Abusive e-mail!

Spamcop has more than one level of service. The one of which I wrote is only for reporting spam and it is completely free. If you check out my (unclickable) link it will explain all.

Re: Abusive e-mail!

True, reporting spam is free. I did this for a couple of months until it began to seem like too much effort for the effect... maybe I'll begin again.
