Nackenrolle!

?% | 1

A couple of days ago I decided to re-start an old project of mine, a D64 file viewer. For those who don't know (i.e. probably everybody reading this), a D64 file is an image file of a C64 floppy disk.
I'm not sure if anybody besides me still remembers that box at all. :-P
Anyways, having converted an old Pascal unit, the program is making good progress. It can already extract files from the image file, display some basic info and view BASIC programs and Koala pics (both lo- and hi-res). Allah knows if I'm ever going to use this at all, but in case you're desperately looking for a way to import your 10+ years old VIC art, get the current build here.

Aah, the Ultima series. I kept reading about them in magazines but never had enough money (let alone a nearby distributor) to get them.

Well I did have Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken. :-) I also loved those Jump&Run thinggies, like Giana Sisters and Turrican, or generally anything with the label "Rainbow Arts" or "Manfred Trenz" on it.
Unfortunately I sucked at most games, compared to my (younger) brothers anyway. In return I was the better coder. :-P I loved coding fancy demos, or sometimes even a game... altho, as of today, "Peeing Contest" is the only game of mine ever finished. :-P But hey, it was so much fun! (We once tried to port Worms from the Playstation to the C64! My computer died the day the title screen and the scrolling routines were finished)

So did you spend much time playing games? Do you still have the original disks around? I've given mine away, so all I can get nowadays are these D64 files off the 'net.

Re: Nackenrolle!

I'm pretty sure that it's $EA31. Otherwise: well done, young padavan! :-)

You know what came to my mind two days ago when playing Detonators: wouldn't it be great if there was a network-capable emulator? Like, the emulator sends the screen and sound output to my mate and in return gets joystick or keyboard input. Imagine the thousands of games all becoming networked at once! :-D

ACK! :)

There is, but only for the SNES (afaik)...

BTW, I am still wondering what the subject of your post got to do with the topic. Is there any connection at all? :-)

Actually there is. :-) The original C64 computer had a big round case, because of which it was called "Nackenrolle" or "Brotkasten" ("bread bin").
