Lava Lamps

I don't know exactly what it is that makes me like these cute things so much.
Still, they're very calming, and when there are other people around, you can always make a bet what happens next inside the tube. :-) Apart from that, they give a very nice, warm light, which is just perfect for cosy nights à deux. Thanks Orchid, your present rules! (But so do you)

I think I'll try to write a Lava Lamp simulator. Any links on "liquid stuff" math?

Re: Lava Lamps

Yep, lava lamps are cool. But I'm always afraid what would happen if I tossed one of those over :(

Anyway, why do you get presents already? (Happy birthday?)

Re: Lava Lamps

Actually, they're pretty stable (and heavy). In the unlikely event that you manage to break one, I s'pose it would spill water and wax all across your furniture. :-)

And yess, it's a birthday present, but dates back to october 13. It's just that yesterday I've found it to be particularly calming, thus feeling the urge to share my feelings. :-)

Re: Lava Lamps

Thanks! :-) I'm glad you like it. Now you know why I want to visit you that often (No, of course not - that's because of YOU! :-)

It's a pity they're so expensive. I'm sure I'd feel happy to watch one in my room in Zürich, too.

No, you won't give me a lava lamp for x-mas.
I have good reasons:
1. I don't want you to spend so much money for me
2. I can have it whenever I'm with you therefor it stays special
3. It would be no more surprise and I wish to be surprised on x-mas
4. I can't carry it to Zürich
5. Maybe Isabel takes hers with her when she'll move in next year
6. My dream of moving together with you some day somewhere still exists: What to do with two lava lamps?

But thanks! You're too kind :-)

P.S: I don't know who the glitter one look but I like the one you have (maybe not the color but the style)

But...

..then again, I could, because...

1. You have already spent said amount for me
2. I could give you a different one, so that red/yellow = my place, blue/silver (or whatever) = your place
3. You expect me to give the idea up, so it would be a surprise after all :-)
4. I could help you carry it to Zürich
5. Isabel could keep her at home, or you could play Star Wars and use them as light sabers, or watch them in "stereo", or...
6. Easy: One for the bedroom and one for the living room!

But okay, I'll get something else.

PS, I personally prefer the non-glitter version. But I know about your compulsion to own everything that glitters, so...

OK, you convinced me. Blue and silver sounds well. :-)
But it will be no surprise anymore... :-(

Do you think the lamp will b used in summer, too?

In the summertime...

Do you think the lamp will b used in summer, too?

Sure! In the garden or on the balcony, in conjunction with a do-it-yourself hamburger station and a not-too-small supply of beer. Bet it will rule. :-)

Right. Can be nice. Beer? A lot of beer? Are you sure? ;-)
I'm miserable. Sorry for my "co-workers" answer. I had to erase it but had to write it though so you can read it in "Winter depressions"
But, as usual, don't care...

Re: Lava Lamps

I'm 50, and I finally own my first lava lamp! I guess better late than never! I got one to solve a "feng shui" problem in my home. So far so good. One question tho...is it alright to keep these things ON all the time and never turn them off? Any answers greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ran
