Do you believe in true love?

85% | 4

Ahh yes, true love. True love may be a gift from anopther being to another, but how do we really actually find that love? Is it like "Love at first sight" where you set sight on a person and you know instantly that he/she is your love of youyr life. Or is it you get to know someone and slowly fall in love with them? I've been thinking abou this at night. I guess thats why I have trouble falling asleep. I may be crazy, but maybe both. Maybe both are happening at the same time.
What do you think about love? Do you really believe in it? Or do you just say that to a girl'guy for your own sexual plesaure. Is love really real? Is it there from the start of your life to the end? I know there are many different forms of love, but what do you think?

Dear Hodgie,

I know this is off-topic, but can you please pick the right forum for your posts? None of your posts so far, qualify under the ideas forum. I am moving them under the correct forums, but in future, I would really appreciate it if you could please read the rules (Posting Rules) again, before writing your next post.

Thanks,
- RCD.

Love is blind, but marriage is a real eye opener.

Re: Do you believe in true love?

well, definitely I believe in true love. And I won't think about it. hMM.. how can I say? it'z just like, before you start dating, you'll think if this gal / guy suits you. Once you've started dating with him/her, I bet you wont' think it over and over to see if this is "true" love. At least I won't classify the love into true love or not. It sounds ridiculous as if you're preparing to break up at the day you start loving somebody.

Is it like "Love at first sight" where you set sight on a person and you know instantly that he/she is your love of youyr life. Or is it you get to know someone and slowly fall in love with them?

Doesn't matter if it'z first sight love or love developing over time. Sometimes it isn't how you initiate but how you keep it. Once you started the relationship, you just have to do it whole-heartedly, to give what you can give and to share, to protect, to care, to concern - to love~!

Or do you just say that to a girl'guy for your own sexual plesaure. Is love really real?

I dont' particularly see sex as sth.. em.. like a fault. When you real love someone, you wanna cuddle, kiss him / her very much. You ever read the Sternberg's Love Triangle Model (sorry, i'm not sure about the proper name.haha) It includes committment, passion and intimacy. I guess committment is that you promise will take care of one another in both times of good and bad; intimacy is that you can be honest with each other, and also it'z about the understanding between two selves. I guess taht'z why people may think knowing each other longer, wil have a better affectionate relationship; and the other key element is passion. I bet it included sex..haha or at least, some time you really wanna have physical contact with that person. To feel the warmth and the very realistic tactile so that you can feel you're emotionally and physically supported.
But of coz, if you love only becoz you wanna get sbd for sex, it is not right.

Is it there from the start of your life to the end? I know there are many different forms of love, but what do you think?

Emm.. and I don't understand sometimes why poeple see "life-long" as a must. It'z not neceesarily true. As long as at that moment, you're treating the one with the best you can. That is true love. Life-long may not mean that'z really love. Say somebody doesn't like you anymore, and will you let go of it, or otherwise, both of you will be in the struggle?
If you're with someone now, when you mentioning your ex-lovers. They can also be your true love.
OH! you reminded me that parental love can be a very true one. Basically, most parents will gie their children the best they can and hope for their best.
See, this is not sth. about first sight - coz your parents will love you even you dont look good (like me!! HEHE)
not sth. about how long you take to know each other - I believe you mother loves you that much at the day your born, till the day you two go apart.
It'z not sth. too much about sex, but definitely your parents like cuddling you or even rush in the door when you're bathing. They don't mind..haha coz they appreciate you, your sould and your body, for the sake that you're their "product".

Re: Do you believe in true love?

Interesting question. Made me think. Very questionable true love. I still don't know the answer. Wish I did though.

To me, true love is out there, and you know when you find it. It is not the butterflies in the stomach, or the pounding heart beat, of the beginnings. True love is tried, over and over. Tested and tested. If you can see all of his/her flaws, and love them in spite of them, then it is real. If you can stay, no matter what the situation, then it is real. True, real love means, being open and honest completely, no such thing as a lie, true love is talking out a disagreement, until at the very least you can agree to disagree. Real love is being there, no matter what your doing, you put it down, for the person you love. That person comes first above all, and yes, even sometimes yourself. It is when him/her are your very best friend. You really feel comfortable, in every single situation, embarrassing ones too. When nothing fizzes you at all. When you will do whatever it takes to make him/her happy, again, no matter what it is, then love is real. One last thing I believe, is that if you are truely willing to die for him/her, for sure you know true love.
