What else but the War on Iraq

Haven't visted NAO for a while now. Been in the middle of the bush. War was declared while I was away, but I did hear about it very briefly.

What I'm surprised at is that when I got back I heard a lot about what was going on, but opinions have stopped flying. Yes, there are still protests going on, but watching the news only shows bombs going off and no one saying anything about it. Like I haven't heard anything from the UN or anyone really. Nothing except explosions, and people talking about explosions.

Is it because people are sick of saying things that aren't going to be heard, or is it just because people are so overwhelmed by what's happening that they don't have time to think? I really don't know.

Lol.......not hardly......people are still protesting all over the world and here in America.

Americans in San Francisco were arrested for "anarchy". I think after the war is over....with our American interest in sueing everyone....that is gonna be interesting.

But.....there seem to be some "radicals" for other interests interspersed into the Peace protests. And I gather....some of those have done property damage.....Now my suspicious mind wonders at that.....I'm sure it happened....but "planting" people is an old tried and true trick. On the other hand...Americans can and will do this sort of thing on their own....so history will dig out the truth.

I resent this war......and I resent Bush's bullying his way into what he wanted to do. But I heartily resent this crap about if you are against Bush you are against our soldiers.

I totally support our soldiers when "in harms way". I didn't want them to be "in harms way".

TV is interesting in a way....we are close to the front lines due to tv and reporters embedded in the troops...not really any way to fake what is happening. At least I don't think so.

Re: What else but the War on Iraq

I'm starting to think that it's not that people have stopped expressing their opinions. It's more or less that I've stopped hearing about people expresssing their opinions. I think since war was declared (or since I started watching TV since I got back to civilisation) the media have stopped reporting about people expressing their opinions.

Perhaps I'll go to one of these protests which is bound to be happening sometime this weekend...protesting against a war, not agaist the troops.

Where are you located, Jeanette? The gap between news reporting on CNN and local (German) networks is huge.

Check out what's going on in the Arabian world right now in reaction to the war. That's not peaceful demonstrations anymore. Blood is flowing. Not good.

Melbourne, Australia. I think I've practically given up on watching the news any more.

In one of my classes today we had a discussion about the war: really stting round making jokes. The teacher said that laughing at it is really all you can do. We can't stop it. We can't be for it. Who can be for war? And we can't be serious about it. We'd just depress ourselves.

So what can you do? Not much I reckon.

Personally, yes. Iever being heard. Im sick of always listening. Im sick of nobody ever wanting to hear me out. What makes there opinion better than mine.

Im sick of thinking about the war. Theres nothing anyone can do. All the decisions are left to be made by some meglomaniac who possibly is over-reacting for venegence for his father..."You didn't die when he tried to kil you??? Well your gonna die now!!" That makes me sick

so yes jeanette. I am feeling quite disgusted and sick. Im sick of it all, i just want it to go away.

So you've just spent the week in the middle of the bush have you jeanette? Well so have we.

I like your bush better. You had happy children. We have children possibly being blown to peices.

Charming really....

Just some personal thoughts on the war.

Turkey trying to skid into Kurdish land brought something very clear to me.....Saddam sure put hisself in a fix trying to take over Kuwait....under the sanctions, he had to disarm his ability to attack..and his neighbors would love taking over any piece of his domain they can for their own reasons...he had to keep up the bluff or the weapons...whichever they find...to keep the neighbors at bay....talk about being hoisted on your own spear!

No...I did not and do not want this war..but now that American soldiers are in "harms way" I support them. I want them home again. I resent the way the news on the protestors trying to slant that if we were against Bush we didn't support our young people....we wanted to stop it so they wouldn't have to go. But pride in them is outstanding and so is fear for them.

Until yesterday, it was a almost a bloodless war....which disturbed me in an odd way....too clean of a war sends a message that it is not soooooo bad. Now both sides are getting hurt and I am disturbed because there is suffering on both sides. God, I hate War.
