Banality

?% | 2

All righty...so all this crappy school stuff has caught up with me. Finally. My subjects never seem to be just right; never right in terms of amount of things being learnt and level of boredom/interest in class.

I'm shit bored in music. Considering it's something I love so much, it's quite shameful that I'm dreading every class. We play these crappy songs...well they're not crappy. It's just that no one can play in tune, or in time, or in anything that a competent musician should be able to.

Politics is still boring as, but cos I haven't done anything for the past 2 weeks I'm actually getting behind, and am too lazy, or perhaps just don't see the point in trying to catch up.

International Studies and Chinese are both requiring me to work my arse off and teach myself 2 weeks worth of cirriculum in 2 days. Crap! I'm really quite screwed. Then when I ask my inter teacher what we did for the past 2 weeks he says "well we haven't done much at all" while I'm wondering why, if we haven't done much, I have no idea what's going on and everyone else does.

Oh the banality! The banality of school, of all my classes, of band, of lunchtimes, of weaseling out of sport, of everything goddamnit! Even in the things that are normally fun, exciting, whatever, I'm beginning to see as representations of the utmost banality. Things like associating with people I do like associating with, and practising my flute, and eating marshamllows. I'm seeing as banal.

My opinion is starting to become that every experience has already been experienced, and that when repeated, are ultimately identical to what has already been experienced with minor differences.

There is a mere 2 weeks left of school and I am seriously trying to just stick to it and not screw up anything too important. Like an Inter SAC, which the likelyhood of screwing up is high. Damn.

Oh yeah, get this, after not turning up to a single volleyball match or training session for a long time, I get nominated to write a 200 word article for the Grammarian, which is the school yearbook. But it's the kind that has to be approved by the hierachy that governs our school. Meaning I can't write anything contraversial and expect to see it published. I will have people hounding me for the rest of the year to write this article. Damnit. A whole 200 words of bull shit, which I know nothing about.

The banality of stupidity. Hmph!

Which world is Plato in?

Jeanette, I must say 'Banality' is such a good word, I should integrate it into my own vocab. If you want to look on the plus side, volleyball will finish for you soon.
I guess this is an especially banal time of year; expect things to get a little better when we're all fresh again after holidays.
And yes, Mel is right, you and her are probably the only ones that could both do it and that the school would consider allowing. There's a word to describe the way sport is run at school, it starts with an i, ends with a t and has the leters ncompeten in between.
I'm sure after a few more days of hard work, the inter and chinese won't seem so bad. The thing is those subjects actually require slight amounts of work.
Anyway, speaking of banalities, english and german awaits.
Bye
Dan :)
